12-05-10 GM cows, blood stained burgers and painted hawks.

This week I discuss 3 local news stories, one about cows who died in GM tests, one about an Aucklander complaining about a blood stained burger and one about the SPCAs reaction to the trapping and painting of hawks. I discuss all of these stories from an abolitionist vegan perspective.

I also read out this recipe for vegan fried rice:

  • 5 cups leftover cooked rice
  • oil
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 2 teaspoons minced garlic
  • 2 cups frozen mixed vegetables
  • 3 cups loosely packed bean sprouts
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric
  • 8 tablespoons light soy sauce
  • 1 cup sliced button mushroom

1)      Heat oil in a large pan.

2)      Sautee onions and garlic till limp.

3)      Add in mushrooms and frozen vegetables.

4)      Cook till vegetables are no longer cold and have warmed through.

5)      Add in turmeric and mix well.

6)      Toss in rice and break up any clumps.
