4-11-09 Interview with Alice Leonard (NZ Vegan Society)

This week on the show I interview Alice Leonard from the New Zealand Vegan Society. We discuss some of the groups aims, how they will achieve this aims and talk about membership benefits.

I also talk about animals right to life, and how even ‘humane’ killing is morally unacceptable. I read out this recipe for vegan pesto (pesto normally contains pamersan)

3 cups fresh basil leaves(or 1 cup dry basil)

    6 tablespoons pine nuts (walnuts can be used if you have no pine nuts)

    2-4 cloves garlic

    3/4 teaspoons course sea salt

    6 tablespoons good quality olive oil

Directions:

Put the basil, nuts, garlic and salt into a food processor or good blender.  Process (blend) until everything is finely chopped. Add the oil and process till it’s all worked in together. 

Serves: about 1 cup
